Four channels
There is no single best place to sell a used thing; there is a best place for each kind of thing and each kind of seller. Four channels cover almost everything: the physical market or commission shop, Telegram groups, social networks, and classifieds sites. Most people use two of them for one item.
Bazaars and commission shops
Fastest for cash and worst for price. A dealer at a market or a commission shop buys the item from you today, at a price that leaves room for their resale. Good for things that are hard to ship or photograph, for bulk lots, and for sellers who value their time over the last 20–30% of the price. No photos, no messages, no waiting — and no way to reach the buyer who would have paid more.
Telegram groups
Telegram is where a lot of second-hand selling in Uzbekistan happens, in city or neighbourhood groups and in groups per kind of thing. Posting is instant and free, and the audience is local. The downsides are structural: a post scrolls out of view within hours, there is no search, no filters, no price history, buyers cannot compare, and nobody checks who is posting — which is also where many of the scam scripts live. Telegram works for cheap things that need to go today, and as a second channel beside a classifieds listing.
Egasi imports ads from selected Telegram channels into its catalogue, so a Telegram post for a car or a flat can also appear on the site with its own page, search and price check.
Social networks
Instagram and Facebook reach people who know you or follow you. That is their strength for a seller with an audience — a small shop, a craftsperson — and their weakness for a one-off sale: strangers searching for your model will not find a post in your feed. Use them to tell your own circle, and list the item where strangers search.
Classifieds sites
A classifieds site is where buyers search on purpose: by category, model, city and price. An ad stays visible for weeks, has its own page that search engines index, and collects messages from people who were looking for exactly that thing. The cost is effort — photos, a description, a price — and patience: the right buyer may take a few days to arrive.
On Egasi, posting is free within each section’s allowance and the form shows the typical price for similar ads while you write. Buyers can message without creating an account (after one SMS code), call, or open WhatsApp or Telegram if you allow it. Ads are checked before they go live, the site works in Uzbek, Russian and English, and a sold ad can be marked as sold so it stops taking offers.
Which to choose
- Cars, flats, phones, laptops, furniture, anything above a modest price: a classifieds ad first, a Telegram post as a second channel.
- Cheap small things that must go today: Telegram or a market.
- Many things at once (moving out): a market dealer for the bulk, classifieds for the few that are worth the effort.
- Your own products or a regular trade: a classifieds profile for search plus social networks for your audience.
